Are you struggling with anxiety and depression? Do you use drugs or alcohol to help soothe those feelings? This is not uncommon. The National Institutes on Drug Abuse states that 43 percent of people who have a substance use disorder also have an underlying mental health problem. At The Right Step, we work to treat both at the same time through our Texas dual diagnosis treatment center at our Texas addiction treatment center. We can help you, too.
Who Needs Dual Diagnosis Treatment?
For men and women battling depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, or severe anxiety, and using drugs or alcohol with it, our Texas dual diagnosis treatment center can provide significant help and support. This type of program is best for those who have known mental health problems, including those listed here, or those who have symptoms of mental health disorders. It is also right for those who have a family history of mental illness and have a substance use disorder.
Texas Dual Diagnosis Treatment Center
When you enroll in our treatment plan at The Right Step, we create a customized treatment plan designed for you. This is done after a comprehensive assessment of your physical and mental health. We will talk about your life, experiences, trauma, as well as symptoms of anxiety or depression you may have. Once we complete a full assessment, we can recommend a treatment plan for you.
Do You Need Detox?
Those with severe addiction may benefit from a medical drug detox center like the one we offer. During this treatment program, the chemical dependency you have improves. We offer medications and treatment solutions to minimize the discomfort you feel during detox.
We also may recommend mental health stabilization. If you are experiencing severe mental health concerns and are at threat of death or significant injury, we will work to stabilize your mental health as well. Once you complete these programs, you can then enter into our extended are.
Dual Diagnosis Treatment Through Care
While removing the substances from your body is our first goal, it does not complete your treatment. Most of our clients will use our residential inpatient drug rehab center. During this program, both your addiction and your mental health conditions are managed. You will engage in a number of different programs to support your health and wellbeing. Some of our therapies include:
- Individual therapy program
- Group therapy program
- Holistic therapy program
- Cognitive-behavioral therapy
- Dialectical behavioral therapy
- Family therapy treatment
Dual diagnosis treatment addresses your mental health on a comprehensive scale. We may need to address concerns with previous trauma or experiences that may have led to these complications. For some of our clients, there is a genetic predisposition to mental illness present. If your parents or grandparents had depression, bipolar disorder, or other mental illnesses, you are at a higher risk for developing it. Substance use, including illicit drugs, prescription drugs, and alcohol, may expose that mental illness.
Plan for Treatment and Long-Term Wellbeing
Our Texas dual diagnosis treatment center is designed to give you the tools and resources you need to move forward in your life. We may recommend:
- Ongoing group and individual therapy
- Family counseling to ensure they are ready to help you
- Aftercare counseling
- Medications for mental health and physical health
- Nutrition support solutions
- Mentoring and alumni support
We teach you how to prevent relapse, too. To do this, we work with each person to talk about triggers, how to change negative thought processes, and how to improve relationships that you want to work on. There is no cure for addiction, but with our comprehensive treatment at The Right Step, along with stabilizing your mental health needs, it is possible for many people to get back to a healthy lifestyle that they enjoy and want to build on for years to come.
